Taiwan investment on mainland 47% higher in first nine months

The mainland's attraction to Taiwan investors remains strong. According to statistics from Taiwan economic departments, from January to September this year the total investment by Taiwan businessmen on the mainland increased by over 40 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, which mainly focused on the making of electronic devices and electrical appliances and showed a trend of gathering in Jiangsu and Shanghai.

September alone saw 137 investment projects by Taiwan on the mainland, with a total fund of $392,442,000, Taiwan��s investment examination and approval committee said.

From January to September this year, the committee had altogether approved 19.6 percent higher investment applications towards the mainland, as well as a total fund of $4,789,404,000, 47 percent higher over the same period of the previous year.
