With a bunch of flowers in hand, 102-year-old woman Ms. Liuhanshi celebrates the holiday with children and dozens of aged people on the Double Ninth Festival (the 9th day of the 9th lunar month) that falls on Oct. 22 this year in a community recreation room for the aged people in Shenyang City, northeast China's Liaoning Province, Oct. 22, 2004. The Double Ninth Festival aslo named Festival for the Elderly.

Some women who are over 80 years old cut a huge cake made for them during opening ceremony of a climbing event in Beijing, Capital of China, Oct. 22, 2004, on the Double Ninth Festival (the 9th day of the 9th lunar month) that falls on Oct. 22 this year. The Double Ninth Festival has a history of more than 2,000 years. In 1989, the Chinese government made the traditional festival as the "festival for the elderly". The Chinese has tradition to climb mountain on this day.
