Protesting against the weaponry procurement of the Taiwan authorities, nearly one thousand joined the "1024 Kaohsiung Demonstration: Anti-Arm Purchase, whether North or South," launched by the Anti-Arms Purchasing Alliance in Kaohsiung city on the afternoon of October 24.

According to local media, at about one pm, almost one thousand people, from all walks of life on the island, gathered at the cultural center of Kaohsiung, to give action dramas satirizing the Taiwan authorities flattering the United States through arms purchase.

When they were ready to start along Wufu Road, with slogans such as "Money to US, debt to Taiwan", shouting "No arms purchase, we want peace," hundreds of separatists, instigated and led by a candidate for the "Legislation Yuan" of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), stopped the parade driving several cars for election campaign. They two sides confronted with each other physically. Over 500 policemen of Kaohsiung separated them with a wall.

The separatists, who were extremely blatant, threw loud abuses to the demonstrators and some of them even tried to break through the wall but were blocked by the police.

They even burned several Five Star Flags in open.

The parade, till 3 pm, finally managed to start off and went along major streets in Kaohsiung. Later at night the masses against arms purchase held a concert "Love and Peace" at the stadium of the central park of Kaohsiung.
