It is learned from the Ministry of Commerce that China's hi-tech products exports have maintained rapid growth rate for 30 consecutive months starting from April 2002 to September this year, showing a good trend of large quantity and price hikes, which further optimizes products' structure for export commodities. The volume of hi-tech products exports was US$112.95 billion for the first three quarters this year, which is more than that of last year's total.
According to statistics, China witnessed an increase of 54.3 per cent in hi-tech products exports in the first three quarters this year, accounting for 27.1 per cent of the national foreign trade's total with 2 percentage points higher than that at the end of last year. The total volume of imports and exports of each month exceeded US$ 30 billion for the first time and that of September was even a record high of US$ 31.41 billion. The growth rate of hi-tech products exports was 19 percentage points higher than that of foreign trade with the export increment of hi-tech products exports accounting for 36.6 per cent of the national foreign trade, which is stimulated to increase national foreign trade by 13 percentage points. The hi-tech products exports with unchanged export rebate rate nearly doubled. And the similar product exports with lowered export rebate rate were increased by more than 50%. Portable computers became the new "champion" among the products. The US, Hong Kong and the European Union were listed the top three countries respectively in hi-tech product exports. The export prices for major products were raised to some extent. For instance, the prices of automatic digital processing equipment and integrated circuit were up 22 per cent. The exports of hi-tech products in Yangtze River Delta region were more than that in Pearl River Delta region. The exports of Shanghai and Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces accounted for 41.5 per cent of the national total and the role of 20 cities including Shenzhen featuring hi-tech and trade will be more prominent.
