The premier of Australia's Victoria State launched "Access China" program here Monday to facilitate Chinese companies to invest in the state and vice versa.

"Companies who plug into Access China will be able to seek advice and support from the government business office staff on a wide range of local issues, such as market research, market entry strategies, cultural and translation issues, networking, agent identification and produce suitability," said Steve Bracks, premier of Victoria State capitalized in Melbourne.

He said the program will provide Victorian companies with access to a desk, conference room facilities, telephone and voicemail based at Victorian government business office in Hong Kong, and soon in Shanghai.

"Our government is committed to helping Victorian companies capitalize on strong relationship and secure export and investment opportunities in Chinese mainland and Hong Kong," he added.

China is the second largest trading partner and top export market of Victoria, he said. And he believed that through the program, the trade relation between Victoria and China, including Hong Kong will be greatly enhanced.

Access China is part of the Victoria government's action plan for driving 10 billion Australian dollars (7 billion US dollars) in investment in Victoria proposed by Bracks in April.

Following the Hong Kong office, another Access China office will be opened in Shanghai.
