Industrial and commercial administrations at all levels in China handled 7772 cases of trademark infringement and confiscate or destroyed more than 2 million pieces of fake goods in an initiative from July to September to protect registered trade marks,
By September 15, 883,000 operations and 27,600 markets had been inspected. 1149 businesses which made or sold fake products were cracked down. 16 cases and 11 suspects were put under the investigation of the judicial inquires.
Especially remarkable results were made in 7 provinces and municipalities identified as the key field of the campaign, that is, Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong, and Fujian. 52.75 percent of trademark infringement cases and 39.72 percent of cases involving foreign trademarks were found there. And half of the total cases transferred to the hands of the judiciary system took place there.
The campaign focused on food, drug, and foreign trademarks. Examples of trademark infringement involving food products like wine, beer, beverage, and dairies, etc. Fake trademark of Tongrentang, the most famous brand of traditional Chinese medicine was also found.
