Chinese FM stresses traditional friendship with Guinea

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said in Beijing Tuesday China will carry on the traditional friendship, strengthen political communications and push forward trade and economic cooperation with Guinea, in order to promote common prosperity.

During his talks with visiting Foreign Minister of Guinea

Mamady Conde Tuesday morning, Li said the two countries have maintained a high level of mutual trust and political support since the establishment of their diplomatic relations 45 years agoand have cooperated closely in economic terms and international affairs.

Li thanked Guinea for its firm adherence to the long-term policy of one-China.Conde said Guinea and China have shared a long history of friendship. China has helped with and participated in different areas of Guinea's development after the country gained independence. He said Guinea is proud of being a friend of China. He reiterated that Guinea will as always keep to the one-China principle and be a trust-worthy friend of China forever.

After the talks, the two foreign ministers signed an agreement on economic and technological cooperation.

Conde arrived in Beijing Monday for an official goodwill visit to China. He met with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Monday and will continue his visit till Oct. 30.
