Senior Party official Luo Gan urged the political and judicial departments at all levels to strengthen the Party's leadership and improve their abilities to establish a harmonious socialist society.
Luo, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the Committee of Political
Science and Law under the CPC Central Committee, reiterated this point during his inspection tour of central-south China's Hunan Province from Oct. 22 to 26.
Political and judicial departments should, by firmly focusing on the primary task of vitalizing the nation, improve their abilities to better safeguard national security, battle against and prevent crimes, guarantee social justice and improve economic development, he said.
The key point to establishing a harmonious society lies in the proper treatment of the people's internal conflicts, Luo acknowledged. Special
attention should be paid to clearing up unstable factors at the policy level, and social conflicts should be settled on the basis of law.
He went on to say that achieving social justice is the major premise of a harmonious society. The law-executing activities of political and judicial departments should be canonical and apparent, and their obligations in law execution should be clear and specific.
