International Olympic Committee (IOC) officials began on October 27 their annual coordination meeting with organizers of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
IOC spokeswoman Giselle Davies told a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday that the IOC Coordination Commission for the 2008 Olympics, made up of 14 members representing the IFs, NOCs, athletes and International Paralympic Committee (IPC), will hold talks with the Beijing 2008 Organizing Committee (BOCOG) as of Wednesday.
"There will be eight working groups during the three-day meeting. They cover the areas of sports, marketing and ticketing, finance and logistics, Olympic Village and National Olympic Committee services, media operation and broadcasting, construction,
communications and Games services," said Davies.
The IOC Coordination Commission meeting will be followed this weekend by a high-profile visit by IOC President Jacques Rogge.
"He will be meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao and BOCOG President Liu Qi," said Davies.
Also taking place in the Chinese capital will be the official transfer of knowledge meeting between Athens organizers and their counterparts from Beijing.
According to Davies, ATHOC president Gianna Angelopoulos will lead a two-dozen-member team from Athens in next week's debriefing.
