British ex-Guantanamo detainees sue US govt
font size

Four British former detainees of US Guantanamo base in Cuba sue the US government for its violation of international law.

The four claimed in their petition submitted to the court in Washington D.C Wednesday that they were tortured and maltreated during their detention.

They seek 5.5 million pound of compensation for each from the US administration.

But primarily they want defendants including US Defense Minister Donald Rumsfeld to be held accountable for their actions.

The four British were repatriated this March from the Guantanamo base after three years' custody and were later acquitted and released by British police.
