Alterations have been made on the categories of banned processing trade by the Ministry of Commerce, the General Customs and the State Administration of Environmental Protection. Added to the list are those which can be sufficiently supplied in the domestic market, cause heavy pollution or the customs find it difficult to supervise.
It is forbidden to conduct processing trade for seeds and seedlings for growing or breeding exports, some waste or used mechanical and electronic products, and simulated guns, and those which are not allowed to import or export,
Contracts involving the banned categories which have been approved by the Ministry of Commerce and registered at the customs should be carried out within a year since the date of approval. No extension will be granted to the trade. And the products cannot be sold in the domestic market.
The government will make some changes on the categories every year according to the development of the national economy and industrial policies.
The most recent statistics of the customs recorded 387.92 billion USD worth of processing trade for the first nine months of the year, surging 36.9 percent over the same period of last year. This amount represented 46.9 percent of the total foreign trade in this period. The trade surplus reached 69.71 billion USD, up 30.1 percent over the first nine months of last year.
