State councilor calls for the police to enhance capabilities
font size

Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhou Yongkang on Friday called on police forces to improve their capabilities of ensuring the security of the country and society.

The police should raise the capabilities of safeguarding national security, handling public security issues, addressing emergency incidents and serving economic and social development, said Zhou at a national public security conference.

Zhou quoted Chinese President Hu Jintao as saying that the police should enforce law for the people, be loyal to the principle of serving the people heart and soul, and increase their fighting capabilities.

With the general task of safeguarding national security and social stability, the police should meticulously study new situations and problems and explore new ideas and methods to enhance their capabilities, Zhou said.
