A major Chinese non-governmental friendship organization held a reception here Friday to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Republic of Zambia.
Chen Haosu, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said China and the Republic of Zambia, as developing
countries, had cooperated with each other in international affairs.
He expressed his appreciation for the Republic of Zambia's adherence to the one-China principle and its support for China on human rights issues.
The Republic of Zambia lies in the southeastern part of Africa. Lusaka is the capital. Under British jurisdiction after 1889, Zambian achieved independence in 1964.
David Clifford Saviye, Zambian ambassador to China, said that the Chinese investment in Zambia now accounts for more than 260 million US dollars (RMB 2.2
billion).
"We will do everything possible to promote cooperation with China and to support the great cause of the reunification of China, as this is the only accepted avenue to peace and prosperity for the humankind," he said.
