Romans stage anti-war demonstration
font size

Thousands of Roman residents have taken to street Saturday to protest against the US-led war in Iraq, China Radio International reported Monday.

The demonstrators called for an end of the war as well as the halt of bombing in residential areas.

They also urged the Italian government to pull out its troop from Iraq as soon as possible.

2700 Italian soldiers are in Iraq now and the government is facing increasing domestic pressure for military pullout after two Italian women hostages in Iraq were released last month.
