font size

China's first liver cell transplant surgery has successfully being performed in a hospital in Beijing, China Radio International reported on Monday.

The 48-year-old patient from northeast China's Liaoning Province is in a stable condition.

The patient has been sick with chronic hepatitis.

Medical experts say the successful operation indicates China has reached a world standard in the treatment of liver diseases.

The liver cell transplant is a method to treat people with terminal illnesses and hereditary liver diseases.
