Chinese domain names to be promoted
font size

China will promote the use of domain names in Chinese characters in order to make the website names easier to remember.

The China Internet Network Information Center has set up a registry service system and has chosen fifteen cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, to promote the use of Chinese domain names, China Radio International reported on Monday.

Domain names are the code names for websites on the Internet. Composed of solely Chinese characters, the Chinese domain names are not only easier for Chinese people to remember, but also avoid confusion and disputes caused by similar spellings and pronunciations under the pinyin system.
