Cross-strait trade soared from Jan.-Aug.

The latest statistics released by China's Taiwan shows the trade volume between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland totaled 39.646 billion USD from January to August this year, representing a jump of 38.5 percent over the same period of last year.

According to the data released by Taiwan, for the first eight months of the year, Taiwan's exports to the mainland stood at 29.311 billion USD, up 33.4 percent over the same period of last year. And its imports from the mainland valued 10.335 billion USD, an increase of 55.3 percent year-on-year.

As a result, Taiwan enjoyed a comfortable surplus in the trade with the mainland, which rose 23.9 percent over the first eight months of last year.
