Three killed in pipeline accident in Kazakhstan

Three workers were killed and three others injured in a gas pipeline accident in western Kazakhstan, emergency officials said on Tuesday.

The pipeline ruptured, exploded and caught fire on Monday morning in the Kaztalovskii district of West Kazakhstan region, interrupting gas supplies from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to Russia,

Three workers repairing a parallel gas pipeline at the time of the accident died from severe burns as a result of the explosion and three others were hospitalized with burns.

The cause of the rupture is being established, officials said.
