    North China has first snow

    Trees are covered with rime in Qiqihar City in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province in early morning of Nov. 2, 2004. The first snowfall in Qiqihar this year occurred in the evening of Nov. 1, with most parts of the area reporting 2 millimeters deep.

    Arafat in stable condition

    Bouquet for Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat outside Percy military hospital on the outskirts of Paris. Palestinian officials said here Monday that the health of Yasser Arafat is "stable" and that they are "more confident" of an improvement in his condition. Arafat flew to Paris last Friday from his headquarters in Ramallah where he had been confined since December 2001.
