Rules for investigations into foreign trade barriers is scheduled to be launched from January 1, 2005 by Chinese Ministry of Commerce. The ministry is soliciting opinions on the rules.
The regulations are devised to protect the legitimate interests and rights of domestic enterprises which file complaints against trade barriers.
A package of provisional rules for investigations into barriers in foreign trade has been in effect for two years since 2002 to keep the safety of the market as much as possible. It was used in the probing into the management of laver imports from Japan.
However, the Ministry of Commerce has found it necessary to make adjustment to the provisional rules and then decided to revise the terms involving the definitions of trade barriers and process of investigations.
