Athens Olympic organizers told their Beijing counterparts here on Wednesday not to "copy" the success of the Athens Games in the organization of 2008 Games.

"We didn't come here to solve problems. we didn't come to give the direct answers to questions," said Marton Simitsek, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Athens 2004 Organizing Committee (ATHOC), at a press conference that marked the end of the four-day Athens Games debriefing in Beijing.

"We came here only to give them our experience for the games. We hope that the profit of the experience adapt to their needs and go their own way. The sooner they do it, the better it will be," he added.

Liu Jingmin, executive vice president of the Beijing OrganizingCommittee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG), spoke highly of the Athens Games debriefing, which served as part of the Transfer of Knowledge, a program initiated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2000.

"I can say that all the experiences of the Athens Games is conducive to our organization work," said Liu, also deputy mayor of the Chinese capital.

"Of course, we will try to fit these experiences in our own work," he added.

The operation of venues and recruitment of volunteers were mentioned as the most thought-provoking parts of the Athens Games.

"As all of the world had seen, they also did a good job in cultural events like the opening and closing ceremonies," said Liu.

The opening and closing ceremonies of the Athens Olympics won wide acclaim for showcasing the essences of brilliant culture and history of Greece.

Simitsek expressed his optimism about the 2008 Olympics, saying Greece and China having much in common.

"We're sure the success of the Beijing Games will be at your hands," he said.

"You have great tradition in sport and your athletes in the Olympic Games in Athens did very great things. We believe that with these athletes, you will fill the venues with passion and spectators."

China grabbed 32 golds, 17 silvers and 14 bronzes at the AthensOlympics this summer, recording its best finish since the country ended an Olympic gold draught at the Los Angeles Games in 1984.
