font size

Leaders in the Arab world have congratulated incumbent US President George W. Bush on his re-election.

Arab League chief Amr Moussa hopes Bush will actively push forward the peace process in the Middle East in his new term and try to help establish a new Palestinian state in 2005.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said he hopes Bush can devote himself to establishing an independent Palestinian state in his new term, as well as resuming security, stability and sovereignty in Iraq and destroying weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East and the world.

Ailing Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, currently hospitalized in Paris, said he hopes Bush can bring new momentum to the peace process in the Middle East.

Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi hopes that the US government will not change its stance and role in Iraq and maintain the current good relations between Iraq and the US.

Syrian Press Minister Mahdi Dahlallah said Syria hopes the US future Middle East policy will be more practical, especially in terms of Iraq.

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismail hopes the US can make positive and effective contributions to Sudan's peace, construction and development.
