Shanxi province adds installed capacity of 1.5 million kilowatts

The happy news comes one after another from Shanxi electric construction site these days. Following the successful operation of the first generating set with an installed capacity of 300,000 kilowatts in the Yushe power plant, two generating sets, each with an installed capacity of 300,000 kilowatts, and the first generating set with an installed capacity of 600,000 kilowatts were also went into production in succession. The total installed capacity has reached 1.5 million kilowatts, equaling to the generated energy measuring 7.6 billion kilowatt-hours.

Meanwhile, a batch of grid construction projects has also gone into operation. Shanxi Electric Power Company invested a total of 1.793 billion yuan in 2004 in the construction of main grids, setting the highest speed of grid construction in Shanxi province since the founding of the People's Republic of China. The electric power transmission project and its supporting projects in the power plants including Zhangshan, Yushe, Hequ and Gujiao have been built and gone into production ahead of schedule. The 500 kilovolt booster station of west-east power transmission project from Shentou to Baoding has also been put into operation, which almost doubled Shanxi's power transmission capacity to Beijing and Tianjin, becoming the largest 500 kilovolt transformer station in North China.
