Former Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal made a subdued debut in Miami Heat's jersey and helped the team win its season-opening victory.
The Heat took on the visiting New Jersey Nets Wednesday and defeated the rivals 100-77, China Radio International reported on Wednesday.
O'Neal played only 21 minutes due to a strained left hamstring.
He contributed 16 points, five rebounds and two blocks for the Heat, while his teammate Dwyane Wade paced a balanced attack with 21 points.
The 7-foot-1, 330-pound center has been suffering from the injury for three weeks.
