Beijing Mayor Wang Qishang says the opening time for Beijing Olympics was previously set to be in late August in light of the hot weather in early August in Beijing.

The opening time for Beijing Olympics is set to be at 8 pm, August 8th, 2008.

At a forum in Beijing, Beijing Mayor Wang Qishang says the opening time was previously set to be in late August in light of the hot weather in early August in Beijing.

But as the US Open and Major League Baseball will also take place in late August, the opening time for Beijing Olympics is finally set to be in early August.

Wang Qishang also reveals that the International Olympic Committee has refused to include martial arts as a sports event in the 2008 Olympics. Whether it will be an exhibition event is still under discussion.
