Around 50 percent of the Taiwan people between the ages of 25 and 40 were willing to work on the mainland, according to a survey.

The survey was conducted by the 1111 Human Resources Bank and its Winner magazine. The random telephone survey interviewed 1,073 Taiwanese from Oct. 16 to 18, reported Shenzhen Daily.

Of the respondents, 50.7 percent said they were willing to work on the mainland while 44.1 percent were willing to run businesses. The survey found that 42.1 percent expressed interest in pursuing further education on the mainland, while 23.9 percent intended to invest here.

Most of the respondents were young people aged between 25 and 29 with higher education. They wished to broaden their horizons while earning money.

According to the survey, young Taiwanese generally regarded themselves more skillful, compared with young people living on the mainland. They thought they enjoyed advantages in terms of language ability and attitude to work. When asked their opinion of the influence of cross-straights relationships on their development, 72.8 percent of the respondents said communications should be strengthened.
