China to cooperate on earth observation
font size

China plans to play a broader role in global earth observational work by strengthening international cooperation and setting up a platform for exchanges.

China's Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Liu Yanhua said at a press conference for the 18th Plenary Session of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites in Beijing, that China has made significant progress in building an earth observation system.

He says China has launched new meteorological and earth resources satellites, and formed a major satellite series with ground systems in Beijing, Xinjiang and Guangzhou.

Liu Yanhua says China's earth observation technology has generated noticeable economic benefits with applications in weather forecast, resources exploration, environment monitoring and agricultural production evaluation.
