Jordan's King stresses independent Palestinian statehood
font size

Jordan's King Abdullah II has stressed the necessity to revive hope for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

During a meeting with a US congressional delegation, Abdullah II called on the international community to encourage the Palestinians and the Israelis to resume peace talks.

The king also reiterated Jordan's support to all efforts aimed at restoring stability and security in Iraq.

The delegation, led by Chairman William Thomas of the House Ways and Means Committee, arrived Saturday in an effort to promote ties between the two countries.

Thomas will also travel to Tunisia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
