Lenovo, IBM to set up JV
font size

China's largest IT company Lenovo and computer giant IBM are planning to establish a joint venture in the personal computer business, reported China Radio International on Wednesday.

Five million computers will be involved in the new company, a significantly larger number than Dell or Hewlett-Packard release in China.

But cooperation will be confined to desktop PC's, and will not include laptops.

Insiders think this move is similar to the cooperative ties China's largest television maker TCL developed with Thomson, a leading global provider of integrated information solutions.

Lenovo's PC sales future is promising.
