Vice-chairman Ismail Amat of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC) met in Beijing Friday with a visiting Polish parliamentary delegation, calling for strengthened cooperation between the two countries.
The seven-person delegation was headed by Jerzy Jaskiernia, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Committee of Poland.
Both sides reviewed the development of Sino-Polish diplomatic relations and agreed that statesmen should be "bridges" helping enhance the mutual understanding of the two peoples and their exchange in culture, art, education and economy.
The high-level visits between China and Poland have played an active role in advancing civilian exchanges and have created an atmosphere favorable to business collaboration, Jaskiernia said.
Jaskiernia explained that a top concern of his delegation, which has been to Guangzhou and Hainan, China's developed coastal areas, was to seek business opportunities for their domestic investors and entrepreneurs.
"Environmental protection could be a sector with good prospect as Poland has effective environmental protection technology in hand," he said.
The delegation also expressed its desire to enhance culture andart exchange between the nations' youth.
"We were so happy to hear Frederic Chopin's music on Chinese flights. It made us feel at home," Jaskiernia said.
A senior legislator in China, Ismail Amat recognized the significance of exchange between different countries' parliaments.
"The NPC would like to further its collaboration with the Parliamentary Committee of Poland to expand the two countries' exchanges," he said.
The delegation was here at the invitation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the NPC Standing Committee.
