Hong Kong Home Affairs Bureau Friday announced the establishment of three cultural committees to help the government provide performing arts, public libraries and museums services.
A bureau spokesman said the committees would formulate strategies and plans for the development of cultural facilities and services, based on the Culture and Heritage Commission policy recommendations.
The committees will further reflect public views and enhance community cooperation and partnership.
Apart from fostering community support and partnership with different sectors, the spokesman said the committees would also seek to enhance public interest in and understanding of performing arts, visual arts and literary arts.
The term of membership of the committees will be two years, starting November 1, 2004. The committees comprise members from the cultural and business sector, professionals, academics, local personalities and government representatives.
