font size

There were fiery demonstrations in various parts of the Middle East to mourn Arafats passing.

Thousands marched through the streets of Gaza in a mock funeral for Arafat on Friday while his burial was underway in Ramallah, reported CCTV.com on Saturday.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Iranians flooded the streets of Tehran to mark their annual anti-Israel day and mourn Arafat. Most of Iran's senior officials attended the rally where US and Israeli flags were burned.

In Bahrain, tens of thousands marched in the capital Manama in a similar demonstration called by Shiite clerics in the Gulf Arab state. In Lebanon and Syria, some eight thousand Palestinians also held mock funerals to mourn their late leader.
