China hopes Sino-EU ties more dynamic: Vice President

China hopes Sino-European cooperation to become more dynamic and fruitful, said Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong in Beijing Friday.

Meanwhile, China hopes Luxembourg -- the rotating presidency of the European Union (EU) for the first half of next year -- will continue to play its influential role in promoting Sino-EU strategic partnership, Zeng told Jean-Claude Juncker, prime minister of Luxembourg.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-EU relations. The Sino-Luxembourg relations have also maintained sound development and that political trust has been enhanced and economic and trade cooperation expanded, Zeng said.

Even though the two countries have different historical and cultural backgrounds and political systems, Zeng said, China and Luxembourg have shared extensive consensus for developing bilateral ties and on major international and regional issues.

Zeng said China attaches importance to relations with Luxembourg and will expand cooperation and upgrade the relationship.

Juncker said Luxembourg have the same aspirations for dialogue and cooperation with China. China's influence in global and regional affairs is on rise and has played an increasingly important role in safeguarding world stability. Luxembourg hoped to consolidate consultation and cooperation with China, and will make even active efforts to promote EU-China relationship.
