Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing talked with his Egyptian counterpart, Ahmed Abul Gheit, over the phone Saturday to exchange views on an international conference on Iraq.

Li was in Brasilia accompanying Chinese President Hu Jintao on a state visit to Brazil.

Egypt will be hosting the conference, scheduled for Nov. 22-23 in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.

Participants at the gathering are expected to discuss Iraq's security and democratic transition.

China has designated its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Wang Guangya, to take part in the meeting.
