GE to expand business in China's infrastructure construction

US manufacturing and energy giant General Electric Co.(GE) has announced that it will expand its business in China's infrastructure construction to further explorethe potential of the huge market in the country.

GE sees vast room to expand its business in China, one of its biggest overseas markets, where a booming economy, Olympics 2008 and World Expo 2010 are sure to yield many business opportunities,according to GE sources in Beijing.

GE will provide quality products in fields including security, water processing, automation and sensing to the infrastructure construction in China. It will also work to seek local business partners in these fields, the sources said.

"Our company is dedicated to bringing advanced technologies, quality services and excellent partners to China, where we see great business opportunities," said Steve Schneider, Chairman and CEO of General Electric (China) Co. Ltd.

China Telecom and GE have established a strategic partnership in the fields of communication services, product supply and resource utilization.

Schneider also acknowledged that GE's water processing businesshas reached more than 20 provinces and municipalities in China.
