    The 29th ACM international Collegiate Programming Contest

    The 29th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest Asia-Beijing Regional Contest is ongoing at the Peking University on Nov 14, 2004. A total of 72 teams from 52 Chinese universities take part in the competition, and the team of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University wins the championship and will enters the finals.

    Turkey to issue new banknote

    The photo taken in Turkish city Istanbul on Nov. 12, 2004 shows three Turkish banknotes worth 20 million lira (about 13.5 US dollars for each) each. This is the biggest Turkish banknote at present--also the biggest banknote in the world. New Turkish Lira (YTL) and new kurus (coin) will be circulated in Turkey from Jan. 1, 2005.

    Pakistan hunts for kidnapper, 6 militants killed

    Weapons seized by Pakistani troops in the South Waziristan agency. Since two Chinese engineers were kidnapped in Pakistan's western tribal belt last month, Pakistani troops have been hunting for Abdullah Mahsud, the master-mind of the kidnap, in the South Waziristan agency, his hide-out. Six militants have been killed during the hunting. But Abdullah Mahsud is still at large.

    Deputy CIA chief resigns

    File photo taken on June 4, 2004 shows the deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) John McLaughlin. McLaughlin resigned on Nov. 12, 2004 after a series of confrontations with CIA Director Porter Goss' aides, the Washington Post reported on Saturday.
