Standard Chartered Bank (HK) announces management changesStandard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited (SCBHK) announces Monday that Peter Wong, chief executive officer of the SCBHK, has decided to leave the bank with effect from Nov. 19, 2004. According to a press release of the SCBHK, Peter has been with Standard Chartered for over seven years during which he has made a highly valuable contribution to the bank's growth and strong market position in Hong Kong. Peter Wong has represented Standard Characterized as chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Banks and played a prominent role in the development of the banking industry in Hong Kong, said the bank. Peter Sullivan, currently deputy chief executive officer of Hong Kong, is appointed chief executive officer of the SCBHK with effect from the same day. Peter Sullivan has been with the bank for 10 years. He is a highly experienced general manager with international experience in Africa, Singapore, Middle East, south Asia, the United States and Australia, the bank said. He will bring strong focus and leadership to the Hong Kong business. Prior to his current role, Peter was chief executive of Standard Chartered's Africa business based in London. Mervyn Davies, group chief executive of Standard Chartered PLC, said "our Hong Kong business represents a core part of our bank and we remain absolutely committed to growing our business in Hong Kong and other Asia-Pacific areas."
