2 British soldiers charged with murder in Dar es Salaam
font size

Two British soldiers currently on leave from Iraq have been charged with murdering a young woman in Dar es Salaam, local press reported on Wednesday.

The two accused, Nigel David Moffett (23) and Brett Richard Mallison (20), appeared on Tuesday in a local magistrate's court.

The accused were not allowed to enter any plea because their case is scheduled to be heard by the high court on November 29 this year.

They were remanded in custody pending further police investigation.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Patrick Byatao alleged that the two Britons had jointly murdered Conjesta Ulikaye last Wednesday in a local beach resort.

The prosecution alleged that while on the Silver Sands Hotel beach, the accused had sex with the deceased and paid her 70 US dollars and promised to pay more after realizing the deceased was needed by others, newspaper Daily Times reported.
