First batch of National Environmental Friendly Enterprises certified

The State Environmental Protection Administration held a ceremony to present certificats of National Environmental Friendly Enterprises to eight enterprises. Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan sent his message of congratulation to the event.

The eight companies as the first to be honored are Bayer Wuxi Chemical, Shangdong Lubei Corporation, Port of Qingdao, Gold East Paper (Jiangsu) Co., Zhenhai Oil Refinery of Sinopec, Kunshan Banknote Paper Mill, Nantong Acetate Fiber Co., and Dushanzi Company of China National Petroleum Corporation.

In his message Vice Premier Zeng expressed his hope that the eight companies keep their endeavor on neo-industrialization, develop the cyclical economy, and promote the idea of environmental protection among the business circle.

The purpose of identifying the environmental friendly enterprises is to set good examples of companies which have records of good economic benefits, rational utilization of resources, clean production and a perfect balance between environmental protection and economic development.

Candidates have to be in compliance with all the 22 benchmarks of the certification. The eight enterprises have proved to lead the country¡¯s industry in clean production, pollution treatment, energy saving, and comprehensive utilization of resources.
