Over 50 people die on Eid days in Pakistan

More than 50 people have died during the three-day Eid holidays ending Tuesday in different accidents throughout Pakistan, the local media reported Wednesday.

At least 13 people including five of a family died during Eid holiday celebrations after drinking poisonous liquor in Hyderabad in Sindh province.

It was termed as the second tragedy of the year in the city after some three dozen people reportedly died after consuming contaminated water in May and June this year.

In Lahore, capital of Punjab province, as many as 13 persons were killed in different incidents, police said.

Seven persons including two women and a child were killed and 32 others sustained injuries in a road accident Tuesday near Phoolnagar, some 50 kilometers off Lahore.

In another accident, six persons from two families drowned Tuesday in Khanpur Dam, about 100 kilometers west of Islamabad, where they went to enjoy the Eid days.

In Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Vehari in central Pakistan, eight persons including an old man, two boys and a minor girl diedin different incidents.

In Sukkur in Sindh province, four persons including three soldiers posted at Pannoaqil cantonment died in a road accident onthe national highway Monday, while five other people were injured in another accident.
