Pakistan cracks down terrorism
font size

A man accused of involvement in a bombing in Pakistan has been arrested by police.

Naveedul Hasan, suspected of taking part in a bomb blast in front of the US Consulate in Karachi, was arrested on Wednesday in a joint operation by Punjab and Sindh Police near the Indian border, China Radio International reported Thursday.

Also on Wednesday, one of Pakistan's most wanted terrorist suspects, Asim Ghafoor, was killed in a police raid in Karachi.

Ghafoor is an Islamic militant wanted in connection with the abduction and beheading of American journalist Daniel Pearl.

City police authorities say he died after a shootout with police and intelligence agents as they tried to arrest him at a hideout in the west of the city.
