China's telecom giant to earn US$2 billion from overseas market

The Shenzhen-based Huawei Technology Co. Ltd. is expected to make two billion US dollars in sales income this year from its overseas market.

Official from Huawei, one of China's leading telecommunication equipment manufacturers, said here recently that the company's total sales income this year is expected to hit five billion dollars. Its sales in the international market may double this year, with the total overseas sales to exceed 2 billion dollars, about 40 percent of its total.

According to a report on a latest local business newspaper, the Chinese company has just signed loan contracts of 360 million dollars with 29 banks. These include the Netherlands Bank, the Hong Kong & Shanghai & Banking Corp. (HSBC and the Bank of China Hong Kong, which will all be used to further expand overseas market.

The Chinese giant communications equipment provider is now offering equipment to the Hong Kong telecom operator -- Sunday -- for the construction of the 3-G network. The company also provides similar equipment for China Mobile Communications Corporation, which operates China's largest mobile communications network.

Huawei is one of the major communications equipment providers in China, involved in the research, development, production, sales and services of such products.

With a 76-percent share in the domestic market, Huawei has provided telecom network solutions for fixed-line, mobile, data communications network and other value-added services for Chinese cell phone operators including China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Railcom and China Netcom.

At present, Huawei is paying more attention to its overseas market. The company has just received 442 million US dollars worth of orders from its major African clients since Nov. 1, said resources from the company.

Statistics show that the firm posted a combined sales revenue of 2.41 billion US dollars last year, with 40 customer service centers established worldwide.
