Sprint plans to use Chinese brands
font size

Sprint Corp., the third-biggest mobile provider of the United States, said Wednesday it was considering using China-made mobile phones.

The company might pick at least one Chinese supplier within three months and was "working with Chinese manufacturers," Gary Forsee, CEO of Sprint, said at an investor conference in New York.

China's biggest homegrown handset manufacturers, including TCL Group, Haier Group and Ningbo Bird, are increasingly selling handsets with the latest bells and whistles to compete with global giants such as Nokia and Motorola Inc.

Chinese vendors would be increasingly competitive and have an impact in driving down the cost, Forsee said.
