China hopes to expand economic, trade cooperation with Turkey, vice premier

China hopes to expand Sino-Turkish economic and trade cooperation, said Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju Friday at a meeting with Turkish President Ahmed Necdet Sezer.

Huang, who is here on an official visit as guest of Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, said the two sides can enhance their cooperation in railway, telecommunications, investment, project engineering and tourism.

He said China and Turkey share identical or similar views on many major regional and international issues and enjoy wide-ranging common interests.

The Chinese side hopes to develop bilateral long-term and steady friendship and cooperation in an all-round way on the current basis, noted Huang.

He also said China and Turkey, both victims of terrorist activities, are faced with the task of safeguarding national unity and territorial integrity, and it is in their common interests to strengthen bilateral cooperation in this regard.

Sezer said Turkey attaches importance to its relations with China and takes China an an important cooperative partner.

The Turkish side will develop comprehensive cooperation with China including economic and trade cooperation on the basis of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, said Sezer.

He noted that Turkey opposes terrorism of any form and will continue to strengthen cooperation with the international community including China to combat terrorism.

Turkey is the third leg of Huang's four-nation tour. He visited Luxembourg and Ireland before arriving here Thursday and he is also scheduled to visit Egypt.
