A senior Chinese official said in Beijing Monday that strengthening the forestry will be a painstaking task for China.

"To strengthen the forestry work and improve the ecological environment is an arduous long-term task for China during its ongoing process of developing the economy in a sustainable way," said Chinese Vice-Premier Hui Liangyu when addressing a meeting honoring the country's elite forestry workers." All departments and localities should fully understand the current situation we are facing and increase the sense of emergency, responsibility and mission," he said. He noted that China should establish an ecological safety system.

According to Hui, China should promote scientific innovation and educate more talented students to work for the forestry industry.

"We should take vocational education as the top priority and enhance training work," said Hui.
