HK Disneyland to open in September 2005

Hong Kong Disneyland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced here Monday that Hong Kong Disneyland will open on Sept. 12, 2005.

"The announcement of opening day for Hong Kong Disneyland marks a key milestone for the development of Hong Kong tourism and the economy as a whole," said Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong government Henry Tang.

The Hong Kong Disneyland's opening would be a driving force for tourism growth for Hong Kong, and family tourism development in particular, and be beneficial to the whole economy of Hong Kong, noted Tang.

"The project has created already 11,400 jobs during construction. Another 18,000 jobs are expected to be created in phases by opening. In the first 40 years after opening, Hong Kong Disneyland is forecast to bring about a huge economic benefit of 148 billion HK dollars to Hong Kong as a whole," said Tang.

He also said that the Hong Kong government would continue to render full support for a most successful opening.

The admission price of Hong Kong Disneyland will be 295 HK dollars per adult during the weekdays and 350 HK dollars on weekends and peak days; children's tickets (aged between 3 and 11 years) will be priced at 210 HK dollars during weekdays and 250 HKdollars on weekends and peak holidays.
