21st Century Broadcast Media Summit held in Beijing

The 21st Century Broadcast Media Summit is held in Beijing Sunday, the UN World Television Day.

The summit was organized by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, or SARFT. High-level administrators from NewsCorp, TimeWarner, Sony, Viacom and other world-class media and investment institutions are taking part in the summit, which focuses on China's development of digital broadcasting media.

SARFT has already set up a timetable for China's digitalization of Cable TV and plans to stop analogue broadcasting by 2015.

A SARFT official says, in the near future, the Chinese people will be able to enjoy audio and video effects similar to that of a cinema and there will be hundreds of TV channels for people to choose from. They will also be able to obtain a wide variety of information from radio and TV.
