All parties, including the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), agreed to solve the Korean nuclear issue through the process of the six-party talks, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue in Beijing Tuesday.
The six-party talks involve the DPRK, the Republic of Korea, Japan, China, Russia and the United States.
China is always in frequent contact with the relevant parties and is working for an early resumption of the next round of talks, Zhang said.
"Due to the complication of the nuclear issue, when to hold the next round of talks or whether to hold a working-level meeting prior to the talks need further consultation and coordination by the parties," Zhang said.
So far, three rounds of the six-party talks have been held in Beijing.
During the 12th Economic Leaders' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum held in Santiago, Chile, Chinese President Hu Jintao held meetings with leaders from relevant countries, who confirmed that the six-party talks are an effective way to solve the nuclear issue, Zhang said.
