First giant panda field research base makes home in Shaanxi
font size

The Shaanxi Fuping Nature Reserve officially became China's first giant panda field research base and passed the expert review on Monday.

The Fuping Nature Reserve, which is intended for the protection of giant pandas and their habitats, has about 35 percent of the total wild panda communities in the Qinling region. Its wild community distribution is the densest in China. The core area of the reserve has an average of one giant panda in every 1.5 square kilometer. After Fuping became a field research base it would serve as a platform for the field research of giant panda by domestic and overseas researchers and train scientists and engineers for the protection of giant pandas.
