The increasing growth of China's auto industry has presented higher requirements for the car emission standards.

The car pollutions will continue to worsen after 2008 should car emission standard of the 3rd and 4th phase not adopted, according to expert's study. Making and carrying out strict emission standard, lowering burden in emission is ultimate option and an effective method in resolving the car pollution problem.

The State Environmental Protection Administration is making the standards of the 3rd and 4th phases for automobiles, including light car, motor of heavy car, motor cycles and scooters.

The emission standards for cars using gas fuel and mixed fuel is included in the emission standards for automobiles as well.
